Originally considered for the title “Uplift,” this artwork found its true name through the inspiration of a collector — giving birth to the playful yet profound phrase, “Once On A Blue Balloon.” Echoing the familiar expression “once in a blue moon,” this new title carries a deeper spiritual meaning that speaks to divine guidance and grace.

In this whimsical yet powerful vision, the blue balloon represents God’s unseen hand lifting a struggling soul upward and forward — toward heavenly light and divine purpose. Though the figure flails, resists, and wrestles with uncertainty, the gentle pull of grace remains steady, faithful, and strong.

As one Austin pastor observed, the symbolism reflects a biblical truth: even when we stumble, resist, or fail to understand the journey, God continues to lead us in the right direction. “Once On A Blue Balloon” becomes a joyful testimony of hope, surrender, and the loving persistence of a good and faithful God.
